A large gas processing facility is being built to process the offshore gas and load this onto LNG carriers. As the project was on a beach, the plan was to place the unit on the beach out of the water.
For this project, Chevalier Floatels converted the Kalmar to accommodate 480 persons. New rooms with bathrooms were created, the entire unit was upgraded with air-conditioning, office facilities, gym and game rooms were created. The restaurant was increased. The whole conversion was done in 5 weeks. Then the unit was loaded onto a heavy lift vessel to Africa. For the beaching operations Chevalier had developed and managed the plan to beach the vessel safely.
